Black Lives Matter in Contemporary American Television Series

In this article I intend to explore how the demands of the Black Lives Matter movement against racism have been portrayed in contemporary American television series. In recent years, there has been a considerable increase in the number of series dealing with Afro-American issues, similarly to the boom of the Blaxploitation genre that coincided with the rise of Black Power during the 1970s. My interest is to discuss how social criticism is featured in these narratives from an intersectional perspective concerned with class, gender, and race.
